The members of the Inter-Parliamentary Coalition to End Plastic Pollution (ICEPP), a voluntary cross-party coalition of parliamentarians supporting the intergovernmental process towards an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, wish to extend their warm congratulations on your appointment as Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC).
Your appointment marks an important milestone in the conduct of the negotiations. In line with ICEPP’s vision — a world free from plastic pollution, where the production and use of plastics are sustainable and circular across their entire life cycle — we reaffirm our full support for the resumption of discussions and for the revitalisation of an ambitious, inclusive and results-oriented negotiating process.
Parliamentarians have a key role to play in strengthening this process, through oversight of government action, the adoption of national legislation consistent with the objectives of the future treaty and, in due course, its ratification. In this spirit, ICEPP stands ready to support efforts towards an effective and operational legally binding instrument addressing the full life cycle of plastics.

Avec plusieurs collègues parlementaires membres de l’Interparliamentary Coalition to End Plastic Pollution, nous avons adressé un courrier à S.E. l’Ambassadeur Julio Cordano, nouveau Président du Comité intergouvernemental de négociation (CIN) chargé d’élaborer un traité international contre la pollution plastique.
Sa nomination marque une étape importante dans la conduite des négociations. Les parlementaires ont un rôle essentiel à jouer pour accompagner ce processus, renforcer l’ambition du futur instrument juridiquement contraignant et, le moment venu, en soutenir la ratification.
Nous réaffirmons notre engagement collectif en faveur d’un traité ambitieux, efficace et opérationnel.
